Research and Design

The College of Engineering prides itself on building a research agenda that addresses society’s most pressing challenges. Faculty and students are on a journey of continual discovery that results in inspired, multi-disciplinary research in many of the most transformative areas of engineering. Because of our location, we are surrounded by numerous academic and corporate institutions, uniquely positioning the College to address the needs of the city, region and beyond.

The College of Engineering educates through innovative research, using current technologies and a focus on critical societal challenges.  Unlike other institutions, our curriculum provides immediate research opportunities for the undergraduate student in our Freshmen Design program. This focus on research continues through to the senior year, culminating with Senior Design projects and competition, overseen by faculty and graduate students.

PhD students focus on many pertinent engineering topics, fusing theory with practical solutions in a diverse environment. Under the guidance of scholarly faculty, students become agents of new knowledge.
