Free Energy Methods

In this lecture, we will consider aspects of computing free energy differences from molecular simulations. These methods include the Widom test particle insertion method, the method of overlapping distributions, umbrella sampling, and the non-equilibrium Jarszinsky relation method. In the interest of time, we will consider only two of these techniques in detail: The Widom method and thermodynamic integration.
