Autoinflammatory Diseases are conditions where the innate immune system responses to self tissues to generate inflammatory responses. These diseases like Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Periodic Syndrome (TRAPS) and Cryopyrin-Associated Autoinflammatory Syndromes (CAPS) typically cause fevers, rashes and pain and are associated with faulty genes related to innate immune function or signaling, such as TNF or IL-1B. However, due to the non-specific nature of the symptoms, they are often disregarded and lead to an average diagnosis time of over 2 years, due to a lack of readily available and reliable diagnostics. As an engineer, this is a problem I want to work to solve. By addressing how innate immune cells respond to inflammatory signaling in microfluidic chips, I can get an estimation of the baseline inflammatory nature of innate cells found in blood, which could serve as a marker of autoinflammatory di
