We strive to better understand the nature of electrochemical interfaces and the electrocatalytic site as it relates to materials and processes for renewable energy generation and storage and how its properties may be adjusted to yield novel catalytic materials with improved activity and selectivity.

Through the use of fundamental investigations of interfaces, we gain insight into reaction mechanisms and how they may be influenced by structural, compositional, and electronic surface properties. These insights will provide the basis for development of unique catalytic materials for the next generation of electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices.
