Dr. Matthew C. Stamm is an assistant professor in the\u00a0Deptartment of Electrical and Computer Engineering<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Drexel University<\/a>, which he joined in the Fall of 2013. He leads the\u00a0Multimedia and Information Security Lab (MISL)<\/a>\u00a0where he and his team conduct research on signal processing and information security. He is the the recipient of a 2016\u00a0National Science Foundation CAREER Award<\/a>\u00a0and the 2017\u00a0Drexel University College of Engineering Outstanding Early-Career Research Achievement Award<\/a>. \u00a0Dr. Stamm was the General Chair of the 2017\u00a0ACM Workshop on Information Hiding and Multimedia Security\u00a0(IH&MMSec)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dr. Stamm’s research focuses on an emerging area of information security known as information forensics, which involves developing techniques to detect multimedia forgeries such as falsified images and videos. Additionally, he develops and studies anti-forensic countermeasures that an information attacker can use to disguise their forgeries. His research has been funded \u00a0by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency (DFBA).<\/p>\n

Dr. Stamm earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in August 2012 at the University of Maryland, College Park. For his dissertation research, he was named the first place winner of the\u00a0Dean’s Doctoral Research Award<\/a>\u00a0from the A. James Clark School of Engineering. \u00a0Additionally, he was the recipient of an Ann G. Wylie Dissertation Fellowship, a Clark School Future Faculty Fellowship, and a Distinguished Teaching Assistant Award.<\/p>\n

Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Stamm earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2004. After graduating, he worked full time at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU APL<\/a>) from June 2004 to September 2005, and again during the summer of 2006.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
