Current characterization studies focus on infrare<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW135020685 BCX0\">d properties, electronic characteristics, and the stability of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW135020685 BCX0\">MXene<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW135020685 BCX0\"> films over time.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW135020685 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-69f3b59 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"69f3b59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ol>\n \t<li><i>Infrared potential of MXenes:<\/i> Specific work is being done on the infrared (IR) properties of MXenes. Our lab is currently pursuing research focusing on the IR shielding properties of MXenes including IR heating and IR cooling. There is additional work being done on the parametric Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) study of various MXenes.<\/li>\n \t<li><i>Electronic MXene characteristics:<\/i> Our group has done new work to examine the electronic characteristics of pristine MXenes. Further work has investigated the behavior of water confined within pristine MXene layers.<\/li>\n\n<li><i>Prolonged stability of MXene films:<\/i> Over time, oxidation and interlayer water can cause degradation in the electrical stability of MXene films. More recent MXene films have been synthesized in ways to mitigate these effects, but there is a misconception that MXenes are unstable due to the properties of the earliest MXenes.
