Nondestructive evaluation meets material reuse!
Today we had the first session of our RECLAIM project at Drexel University College of Engineering – Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. RECLAIM stands for Robotic Evaluation for Circular Lifecycle Assessment of Infrastructure Materials. In this project, born from a collaboration between myself and Arvin Ebrahimkhanlou, PhD, PE, undergraduate and high school students are learning how to use nondestructive evaluation methods to assess post-demolition materials. The results will inform more realistic assumptions for life cycle assessment of reused construction materials.
Excited to work with this incredible team and see them explore how engineering can be used to solve pressing societal problems!
