About Us

The research in theĀ Laboratory for Biological Systems Analysis applies system level engineering techniques to study bio-mechanics, fluid dynamics, and sensorimotor control in biological systems. Specifically, our research focuses on:

  1. Developing bio-robotic platforms and high fidelity numerical models as tools for testing hypotheses related to biological locomotion.
  2. Designing and implementing closed-loop control strategies that leverage physics-based models to achieve a range of locomotory tasks.
  3. Integrating sensing and state estimation methods to investigate how local and global sensory information can inform control decisions for robots operating in dynamic flow environments.
