BSEG Ph.D. candidate, Naghmeh Ghalamsiah, recently gave a presentation entitled ‘Interpreting Convolutional Neural Network Model Developed for Building Fault Detection and Diagnosis Using Layer-wise Relevance Propagation’ at the ASME 18th International Conference on Energy Sustainability (ES 2024) in Anaheim, CA. This work focuses on explaining the decision-making process and outcomes of the deep models designed for HVAC system fault diagnosis to ensure more accountable and transparent usage among researchers. Additionally, the conference provided a valuable platform for networking and exchanging insights with leading experts in the fields of sustainable building and communities, HVAC energy optimization, and building automation systems.
