Project Title:
Surface reaction between Ozone and Squalene in Batch continuous flow reactor
Principal Investigator:
Chunyi Wang
Abstract:
Squalene is one of the most common lipids produced by human skin cells. It constitutes ~5-15% of skin oil. The characteristic of its six carbon-carbon double bonds leads to rapid reaction activity with ozone to form secondary organic aerosols. The purpose of this experiment is to explore both mass and number concentration of SOA generated due to surface reaction between ozone and squalene. Different experiment conditions which can affect the yields of SOA such as RH, initial particle concentration, ozone concentration are discussed. The SOA yield range in steady state is determined.
