Biography

Baris Taskin received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey, in 2000, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, in 2003 and 2005, respectively. He also received the minor program diploma in operations research from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2000, and the certificate in system-on-chip (SOC) design from Pittsburgh Digital Greenhouse [currently called The Technology Collaborative (TTC)], Pittsburgh, PA (in cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania State University and Carnegie Mellon University), in 2003.

He has been an assistant professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, since 2005. Between 2003-2004, he was a staff engineer at MultiGiG Inc., Scotts Valley, CA, working on electronic design automation of integrated circuit timing and clocking. His research interests include VLSI CAD, circuit timing, high performance integrated circuits and nanoarchitectures. He is an "A. Richard Newton Award" winner from the IEEE/ACM Design Automation Conference (DAC) in 2007 (for junior faculty starting new programs in EDA) and a recipient of the Faculty Early Career Development Award (CAREER) from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2009.

He was born in Izmir, Turkey, in 1978. He graduated from Bornova Anatolian High School, Izmir, Turkey in 1993 and the Izmir Science High School, Izmir, Turkey in 1996. He is a licensed lifeguard educator.
