Alex McDonnell is a Ph.D. student in the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Department. He earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 2023. Alex has previously worked at a metal powder processor and a 3D Metal Printer manufacturer during his COOPs at Northeastern and, more recently, at Infinite Cooling in Boston, MA, as a Mechanical Engineer and Field Service Engineer, working on Cooling Tower water sustainability infrastructure.
Alex joined the lab in September of 2026, and his research will be focused on bone implants and a design framework to optimize implant topology and bone integration.
Outside of research, Alex is an avid runner, which drives much of his passion and curiosity for research on bone and biomechanics.
