Dr. Ahmad Najafi received the two following awards in February 2023:
2023 College of Engineering Outstanding Early-Career Research Award. This award was given to him in order to acclaim the progress of the research in his lab (MCMBLAB), which focuses on the design of multifunctional/bioinspired materials/structures and the multiscale damage modeling of biological materials, as well as his collaborations with the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood as part of the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem. He is also a recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award.
Inaugural Carleone Faculty Awards, which was granted for his work with Sorin Siegler, PhD, professor of mechanical engineering and mechanics, and Steven Kurtz, PhD, part-time professor of biomedical engineering, science, and health systems. The title of their project is “A Multiphysics AI-assisted Design Framework to Tailor a Porous Swelling Orthopedic Implant.”
