  • Welcome to Juan Cruz who joined the group as the STAR (Students Tackling Advanced Research) program scholar!
  • Prof. Pomerantseva visited the laboratory of Prof. Patrice Simon at the Paul Sabatier University in France, as a part of the Erasmus Mundus Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion+ (MESC+) Visiting Scholar Program. They discussed and carried out the research on energy storage properties of MXene-derived chemically preintercalated bilayered vanadium oxides in aqueous energy storage systems with the focus on aqueous Zn-ion batteries. Prof. Pomerantseva gave a seminar “Synthesis of Versatile Electrode Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage via Chemical Preintercalation Approach”.
  • Prof. Pomerantseva presented an invited talk titled “Chemical Preintercalation Synthesis of versatile electrode materials for electrochemical energy storage” at the 50th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting (MARM) of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

    • Darrell Omo-Lamai and Cyra Gallano started working on their coop projects in Materials Electrochemistry Group.
    • Raymond Zhang presented a poster titled “Liquid Phase Exfoliation of Bilayered Vanadium Oxide for Assembly of Two Dimensional Heterostructures for Li-ion Batteries” at the International Battery Seminar in Orlando and met with the group alumnus Dr. Bryan Byles.
    • Prof. Pomerantseva visited the laboratory of Prof. Matthew Suss at Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, as a part of the Stein Fellowship Program. They discussed selective ion removal using capacitive ion deionization (CDI) systems and potential of increasing selectivity using intercalation compounds. Prof. Pomerantseva gave a seminar “Tunnel and Layered Intercalation Compounds for Water Desalination via Hybrid Capacitive Deionization”.

  • Cyra Gallano presented a talk at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research titled “Reconstructing layered framework of 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes) via modification of anionic sublattice toward formation of new oxides”. This is the largest symposium of undergraduate research in the world. Congratulations, Cyra!
