Nicole Segal earned her PhD in the Electrical Engineering at Drexel University in September 2015. She is a member of IEEE, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honors Society (HKN). In the past Nicole has held the position of President of Drexel University HKN and in 2005 & 2006 Nicole has been Vice President of Drexel’s IEEE student branch. She is also a member of the Chi Alpha Epsilon Honors Society, a Pennoni honor’s student and ACT 101 member.
As a result of her academic excellence, Nicole was the 2006 recipient of the Robert Quinn Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award, 2007 & 2005 Drexel Center for Learning and Academic Excellence Scholarship, the 2005 Exelon Energy for Education Scholarship; and has received the William Utzy Scholarship since 2005.
Nicole’s commitment to community service within Drexel University is evidenced by the “Engineering a Better World Conference” which was her inspiration to bridge the gap between engineering education and international engineering issues.
Her current research includes switching algorithms, and distributed energy resources. She has interest in renewable energy installations and their effects on the distribution grid.
